🧅 Tor Project completes donation drive goal in a single day

The Tor Project recently teamed up with Bitpay to launch a donation drive, powered entirely by Bitcoin (BTC).

It only took 25 hours before volunteers fully raised the $10,000 USD goal, despite having 12 more days to go.

The donation drive is still underway, as the team stated they "requires financial support beyond 10k" towards their goal of "protecting privacy online".

📜 French Government to create 'ICO white list' with new regulations

France is set to approve the first batch of crypto businesses under The PACTE (Action Plan for Business Growth and Transformation) bill.

The bill, proposed in April this year, is set to come into force later this month.

"France is a precursor. We will have a legal, tax and regulatory framework," said Anne Marechal, executive director for legal affairs at the Financial Markets Authority.

Facebook's blockchain lead, David Marcus, went before the U.S. Senate Banking Committee to answer questions on Facebook's coming crypto, Libra (LIBRA).

Here are some takeaways from the 2 hour 35 minute hearing:

Facebook's user privacy and trust issues is a major point of contention of the hearing.
"Facebook is dangerous" - the opening statement of Senator Sherrod Brown that sets the fiery tone of the hearing.
David Marcus says he would accept 100% salary in Libra.
Facebook hasn't contacted the agency they claim is overseeing Libra privacy
Facebook will have to appear before another Senate committee that will feature committee chair Sen. Maxine waters, who called the moratorium of Libra.

Interesting, for a hearing about cryptocurrency, hearing was notably light on other cryptocurrencies.

US. Congressman Kevin McCarthy even spoke positively of bitcoin, saying "I like Bitcoin".
