Meu primeiro investimento: 1 mcxFEE!

Month In Review: February 2013

Hi! This is Marcus Wilson, The Bitcoin Master's butler! I'm not as good as him reviewing stuff, but I'll make my best every last day of each month to cast an eye on what he had to say about the world of Bitcoin. Let's see what we have for February 2013, the very first month he decided to share his wisdom with the rest of us mortals...

But first, let me serve dinner to The Master...

During the month of February 2013, The Bitcoin Master wrote:

  • Six Bitcoin Information Articles:
  • Fifteen Free Bitcoins Sites Reviews:
  • Three Bitcoin Services Reviews:
  • One Other Bitcoin Site Review:
  • Two Personal/Blog Notes:
Welcome!
Did Earn Free Bitcoins And GOXKEYGEN Stop Working?

Wow, it's been a pretty intense month for The Bitcoin Master! This month he focused his energies on telling us which the best websites to get free bitcoins are, how they work and what we should do to maximize our rewards on them. He also warned us about several websites that don't give out free bitcoins although there are many links pointing to them. He informed us on the steps one must take to get into bitcoin, how to join a mining pool and how to join a market exchange. He gambled money for the first time on his life just for the sake of documenting how a popular bitcoin gambling game works. He even unmasked a scammer stealing coins to unvigilant bitcoiners.

On the first day of the month only 3 people read what he had to say (and two of them were me). Today he is read by over 500 people each day. During this month, 10.000 people have come to this place to read his articles and learn from him. He's achieved all of this in one month, starting from zero.

The Bitcoin Master is simply amazing. I love being his butler.

After CoinAd, there's now another site where you can earn bitcoins as you chat with other people! After being down for a couple of days, CoinVisitor (free bitcoins daily for visiting websites, free bitcoins once for liking/tweeting them) now adds this nice feature to their chat. I'll tell you the steps you must take to participate and earn here!:

How To Proceed

  • Go to the CoinVisitor Chat page.
  • You'll be given by default a user name composed by six numbers (such as "273645"). Change your nickname with the command "/nick YOURNICKNAME":

I'll be "BTCM"!

  • Now register with the nickname you've chosen and a password with the command "/regist YOURPASSWORD":

This is not BTCM's password :-P

  • Now Logout and then Login with the user and password you chose:

Press this button...

And login with your user and password!

  • Now set up the bitcoin address where you'd like to receive the satoshis you get with the command "/setbitcoin YOURBITCOINADDRESS":

This IS one of BTCM's many bitcoin addresses.
Feel free to send some satoshis there! :-P

  • And that's it! Now chat with the rest of people. I'm not sure of the rules that the system follows to reward you, but it seems you've got a 33% chance to receive bitcoins for a message. You get 6 satoshis (0.06µ?) every time this happens.

Prize get! It seems the ChatBot approves of what I said! :-)

  • If you want to know how many bitcoins you've accumulated after some chatting time, use the command "/balance":

$24 in the year 2050...

  • To withdraw your earnings, use the command "/withdraw":

Simple!

  • That's all you need to know! You'll receive your earnings in 24 hours, just as the ones you get from visiting sites at CoinVisitor.

Opportunity Review:

  • Expected profit: 1/5. Since I don't know the rules for getting a reward I'm not sure. But by sending three messages per minute you'll get approximately 3.60µ? per hour. Or about 100µ? per day. Very little...
  • Convenience: 5/5. Anybody can chat! The chat commands allow you to quickly manage your earnings too.
  • Payment speed: 2/5. You'll receive your satoshis in a day or less.
  • Risk: 1/5. Since getting the six satoshis seems like a random event, you may never get the prize if you are extremely unlucky!
  • Final Score: 6/10. It's nice to see new ways to earn free bitcoins appearing. This CoinVisitor Chat works pretty well but its reward is so low that it will take you a lot of time to get a significant amount of microbitcoins. Please raise the prize amount, Mr. CoinVisitor Admin! :-) Update 1, 07/04/2013: The reward has been risen! :-D

Site Review: AmazonBitcoins (2 updates)

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota
Do you buy at Amazon? Would you like to buy their stuff using Bitcoins? Now it's possible, thanks to a new Bitcoin service which launched yesterday: AmazonBitcoins!

My Experience With AmazonBitcoins

One of the administrators from AmazonBitcoins contacted me one week ago to see if I could review their new website. I accepted, as long as they sent me the necessary Bitcoins to test their service. I'm glad they trusted a crazy guy like me who calls himself "The Bitcoin Master" and sent some coins (Update 2, 25/02/2013) 0.9? my way! I'll tell you my experience using their service.

The first thing you'll see when you visit AmazonBitcoins is that the website is really clean and uncluttered; there's only the necessary amount of text needed to know what the site does and how it does it. It almost looks like an iPhone app inside your browser with that big "Get Started" blue button. If you press said button it will show you a dialog to register a new account:

Simple and infomative

When you introduce your data in the text fields and press the "Register" blue button you'll be given a personal AmazonBitcoins Bitcoin address to send the coins you'd like to exchange for Amazon gift cards. You may send as little as $1 (converted to bitcoins) to try out the service:

The "Copy to Clipboard" option is a nice detail

I sent them the 0.888? needed to buy a $25 Amazon gift card. Every time you visit the site this exchange prize is recalculated taking as a reference the one at Mt.Gox:

Transaction sent!

And in seconds I received this very professionally written email:

0.888? = $25.15? I guess the bitcoin exchange versus the dollar went
up while I was using this service!

After that, I only had to wait 13 minutes to receive my Amazon code on my inbox:

Excellent!

The service is really fast! Once you send them Bitcoins a new link will appear at the top of the AmazonBitcoins page with your order history. It will show you the status of your orders and the gift codes once they are processed:

This is my order history...

... And this is a sample order history where you can see two orders:
one pending and another complete

They also had a Live Chat where I had the chance to chat with Brian, one of the creators of the site! This is a great addition in case you have questions about the service. Brian is very helpful and nice as well:

Update 1, 25/02/2013: The Amazon gift code I received was redeemed by the AmazonBitcoins administrators, not by me.

Site Review:

  • Service quality: 5/5. The website is clean and zen-like, the registration process is hassle-free and the information they give covers everything you need to know about the service. They've also got a FAQ.
  • Convenience: 5/5. This is a great service for those who'd like to buy stuff from the Old World (where Bitcoin has not yet been widely adopted by every business). And especially for those who don't want to go through the process of registering on a market exchange (or can't [I'm looking at you Residence Certificate!]) to transform their Bitcoins into other currency.
  • Service speed: 4/5. The service is fast. It's not automatic, since they have to wait for some confirmations of your transaction to avoid the bad people who double spend their bitcoins. They are planning to let customers with a good payment history skip this waiting time and receive their gift codes as fast as possible.
  • Risk: 0/5 1/5. None. The administrators are good, trustful people. Their service works very well and if you have questions you can contact them via Live Chat or email. Update 2, 25/02/2013: Read the comments.
  • Final Score: 10/10. AmazonBitcoins works like a charm. You can now buy stuff at Amazon with your bitcoins faster than if you go through a market exchange to transform them into dollars or other Old World Currency. It's a service I'd recommend to anyone!

Site Review: Coin Reaper

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota
Coin Reaper is a bitcoin faucet with a twist: it gives out some bitcoins but also lets you visit several other websites which give more free bitcoins without leaving the Coin Reaper site. So as you reap the bitcoins from them, I guess. Let's check it out:

How It Works:

  • Coin Reaper gives you free bitcoins after you input your Bitcoin address and solve a verbal captcha (and in some cases an image catcha).
  • You'll receive 20µ? every time you do this. It's something!
  • You can do this once per day.
  • You'll receive the payment on your digital wallet in less than 24 hours.
  • Coin Reaper allows you to visit several other websites to get more free bitcoins without leaving the site. Not all the websites it shows still do it though; some, like NetLookup, BitCrate and Bitcoins So stopped some time ago. We have reviewed here the ones on their list that do give free bitcoins: Bunny Run, Daily Bitcoins, CoinAd, Bitcoiner and CoinTicket. I personally prefer to visit each web directly, but if you like this approach, visit them all from Coin Reaper.

Introduce your bitcoin address...

... Solve the captcha...

... And win 20µ?!

Best Strategy:

  • Get a Timer App on your phone and bookmark http://www.coinreaper.com/ on your mobile phone's browser (or any other).
  • Create a new Bitcoin address only to receive bitcoins from Coin Reaper. This way you can assure yourself that they are actually paying you.
  • Visit the site, input your bitcoin address and press the "Reap BTC" button. You'll be sent to a new page with a captcha. Solve it and press the "Get Coinreaper BONUS" button. You'll be sent to a third page informing you they have noted your bonus request. Now you may leave the site or browse the websites on their list for more free bitcoins.
  • Set your timer to 24 hours. When the countdown reaches zero, repeat the previous step.

They always give out 20µ?

Site Review:

  • Expected profit: 1/5. 20µ?. Very little, but if you just can't have enough, visit this place daily.
  • Convenience: 3/5. Input bitcoin address and solve captcha, as always. The design of the site is pretty bad though...
  • Payment speed: 2/5. They will send you your bitcoin bonus in less than a day.
  • Risk: 0/5. The risk is equal to 20µ? less than the amount of bitcoins Coin Reaper gives out.
  • Final Score: 5/10. Visit this site only if you feel like you must get every single free satoshi you can every day. If you are not that ambitious, skip it. In other places you can get more than at Coin Reaper for doing a couple of simple tasks! I'll talk of them in the future.
