🚧 FinCEN Issues New Guidance; Dapps Subject to US Money Transmitter Rules

The US Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) issued new "interpretive guidance" that may affect Decentralized applications (Dapps).

Under the new guidance, Dapps that "accept and transmit value," will be regarded as a money transmitter, which will need to comply with AML/KYC regulations.

"when [D]apps perform money transmission, the definition of money transmitter will apply to the [D]app, the owners/operators of the [D]app, or both."

🐝 Desktop mining software Honeyminer launches on MacOS

HoneyMiner, a desktop-based crypto mining application, has released a new version for MacOS users.

The software, launched in July 2018 uses both the device's CPU or GPU to mine various cryptos.

The HoneyMiner app takes 2.5% of the proceeds for multi-GPU machines and 8% from single GPU users.

😲 U.S. Congressman calls for bill to 'outlaw' cryptocurrencies

U.S. Democrat Congressman Bradley Sherman called on Congress to propose a bill outlawing cryptocurrencies.

Justifying the bill, he said "..our international power comes from the fact the dollar is the standard unit of international finance and transactions,"

He added that "the advantage it [cryptocurrencies] has over traditional mechanisms is singularity a benefit for those who wish to commit crime."
