NIGHTFALL ARRIVES: One of the world’s largest consultancy firms has released a new set of protocols for enabling private transactions atop the ethereum blockchain. The project, dubbed “Nightfall,” by Ernst & Young (EY) was released on GitHub Friday. The freely-available code, which leverages a well-known technology in the crypto space known as zero knowledge proofs (ZKPs), is aimed at helping corporate EY clients use the ethereum blockchain for use cases that include supply chain management, food tracing and transacting between corporate branches. ATLANTIS LOST? Ethereum classic’s open-source developer team has failed to reach a consensus on whether to move forward with an upcoming system-wide code upgrade, informally called “Atlantis,” effectively sending it back to the drafting stage. Developers have been deliberating on Atlantis since February in an effort to incorporate improvements that have already been activated on ethereum. One particular proposal – EIP 170 – saw pushback, with a developer saying it could just as well be implemented via a less risky soft fork. Full story

AUTO PLAY: U.S. insurance giants State Farm and USAA have entered advanced testing of a blockchain system that automates the time-consuming and paper-heavy processing of automobile claims. Announced Thursday, the companies developed this system using Quorum, the private enterprise version of ethereum created by JPMorgan Chase. State Farm disclosed the project was in early trials in December, but kept USAA’s involvement under wraps. Now, the firms are using real claims data and expect to go into production by the end of the year. Full story

‘SATOSHI’ SPEAKS: The latest person to claim authorship of the bitcoin white paper under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto has told CoinDesk, “I filed it just to let people know anyone can register a copyright. Everyone can be Satoshi Nakamoto.” Wei Liu, CEO of Coinsummer, a crypto market research firm, and former CEO of crypto fund MarvelousPeach Capital, registered a copyright claim for the famous document last week, after entrepreneur and bitcoin SV proponent Craig Wright controversially did so in April. Liu chose not to answer whether or not he is Satoshi Nakamoto when asked by CoinDesk. Full story

JUNE JOY? Bitcoin's leap to levels above $9,000 on Thursday was short-lived, with prices falling all the way back to $8,000, creating a bearish candlestick pattern on the back of high volumes. As a result, a deeper drop to the historically strong support of the 30-day moving average, currently at $7,342, could be seen over the next few days. Should BTC avoid or recover from any pullback, it may end up scoring gains in June for the fifth straight month. Full story

PRICE PAUSE: Billionaire investor and Galaxy Digital chief Mike Novogratz has forecast that bitcoin will soon consolidate between $7,000 and $10,000, Bloomberg reports, though it could go higher. “If I’m wrong on that, I think I’m wrong to the upside, that there’s enough excitement and momentum that it could carry through,” he said during an earnings conference call.

CRYPTO BILLS: Australia-based crypto exchange and blockchain firm Cointree recently teamed up with regulated bill payments automator Gobbill to enable automated bill payments in “any” cryptocurrency, Finextra reports.
