💵 Binance Invests in Crypto Derivatives Exchange FTX

Binance, the second-largest crypto exchange by daily traded volume, has made a strategic investment in crypto derivatives exchange FTX.

While Binance has not itself disclosed the sum of its investment, Sam Bankman Fried — the founder of FTX told Bloomberg it was to the order of "tens of millions."

Binance CFO Wei Zhou added that the Binance team encourages "positive competition as well as partnerships" to help develop new products and services for the industry.

✒️ U.S. - Crypto-Currency Act of 2020 to bring Regulatory Clarity

A U.S. lawmaker has reportedly introduced a draft bill dubbed "Crypto-Currency Act of 202 to bring regulatory clarity in the crypto sector.

The bill has divided cryptocurrencies into three parts - "crypto-commodities," "crypto-currencies" and "crypto-securities" with a "federal crypto regulator" for each of the categories.

Earlier this year, U.S. lawmaker Warren Davidson reintroduced the Token Taxonomy Act, seeking to give cryptocurrencies a clearer legal standing in the U.S.

🏧 MakerDAO receives $27.5M to expand into Asia

The Maker Foundation sold $27.5 million worth of MKR tokens to Dragonfly Capital and Paradigm in a bid to expand into Asia.

Dragonfly Capital and Paradigm used the funds to purchase around 5.5% of the total MKR token supply in a bid to help the stablecoin project to capture the Asia market.

"Right now there is this incredible hype and excitement about DeFi that is brewing, especially in China, but also South Korea." said Rune Christensen, CEO of Maker Foundation.
