At one point, the average price of BTC dropped by 15% in just 20 minutes.

Other popular cryptocurrencies, such as Ethereum, XRP and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) are respectively down 28.3%, 23.2% and 31.1% over the past 24 hours.

📴 MakerDAO Weighs Emergency Shutdown Following ETH Price Drop

The Total Dollar Value locked in DeFi protocols fell over 20% from US$889 million to US$691 million last Thursday night.

As the largest protocol in DeFi, Maker (MKR) faces an emergency shutdown with $4 million of outstanding DAI against their underlying crypto asset, according to a stakeholder.

Currently, its first move is to keep putting new MKR into the market until it can buy back the $4 million outstanding DAI.

🔥 Binance Doubles ETH Withdraw Fees, Firing Up Crypto Traders

As the market entering a bearish condition, Binance announced it will double its ETH withdrawal fees.

The decision is made to help better the ERC20 and ETH withdrawals in the current high congestion on the $ETH network.

ETH withdrawals fee has increased to 0.006ETH from 0.003 ETH and ERC20 withdrawal fee has increased to 0.01 ETH from 0.006 ETH.

🌋 Crypto exchanges briefly went out of service as bitcoin crashed over 50% a day

As the Bitcoin drops over 50%, BitMEX and Gemini were down approximately 45 minutes late Thursday night.

BitMEX saw the highest position liquidations at over $1 billion and it had a "hardware issue" with its cloud service provider.

The issues causes requests to be delayed between 02:16 and 02:40 UTC.

Similarly, Gemini conducted an "emergency maintenance" around 00:46 EDT, before resuming its operation at 01:37 EDT.
