This is personal

Where I've been, and what still excites me.  ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏

Hi Carlos,

I haven't written to you in a long time.

There's no dramatic reason. I stepped back from running CoinSutra day to day, and when the person writing the emails stops showing up, the emails stop too. We haven't published much either. I'd rather tell you that plainly than pretend it was a content strategy.

I want to tell you where my head has been, because I suspect parts of it will sound familiar.

I've become an investor, not a trader

Not because I'm bad at trading. I'm reasonably good at it.

But trading demands a temperament I don't have — the willingness to sit in front of a screen and let it set your mood for the day. Investing suits how I'm actually built. I buy things I understand, I hold them, and I get my life back.

If you've been quietly wondering whether you're doing crypto wrong because you're not day trading — you're probably not. You may just have my temperament.

What I've been learning instead

AI, obviously. But the part that grabs me isn't the hype. It's how fast the tools became genuinely useful. I now do things in an afternoon that used to take a small team a week.

And beyond AI: consciousness, biohacking, how attention actually works. I've spent this stretch reading widely rather than narrowly, and it's been the most useful thing I've done in years.

The unglamorous part of running a brand

A large share of managing CoinSutra's social presence turned out to be deleting spam. Scam replies, impersonation accounts, bot comments. Hours of janitorial work with nothing to show for it.

That stopped being exciting a long time ago, and I stopped pretending otherwise.

What I am still excited about

AI-assisted investing. Not "a bot makes you money while you sleep" — that's a lie, and you won't hear it from me.

I mean the real version. Research that took days now takes an hour. Screening ideas, reading filings, stress-testing a thesis, finding the thing you missed. That shift is quietly reshaping how investing works, and most of crypto hasn't noticed yet.

On people leaving

A lot of familiar names have moved on — to AI, to other industries, to different lives entirely.

I don't read that as failure. It looks like evolution. Industries mature, and the people who came for the frontier go find the next one.

Some of us stayed. I'm still here.

What CoinSutra will be

We could publish AI-generated crypto content at volume starting tomorrow. Plenty of sites already are. We're not going to.

The bet I'm making is this: when anyone can generate infinite plausible content, the scarce thing becomes information you can actually trust — written by someone who has been wrong in public and says so. We'll use AI where it makes the work better, and a human stays accountable for every word.

I don't have the next three years mapped out. We'll decide as we go, and I'd rather do that with you than at you.

Two questions

What are you finding genuinely interesting right now? It doesn't have to be crypto. If you've fallen down a rabbit hole in AI, health, consciousness, or something I've never heard of — I want to hear it.

And what do you want from CoinSutra now? The same thing you originally signed up for, or something different?

Just hit reply. I read every one, and I'll answer as many as I can.

P.S. This one is personal, so there's nothing to click and nothing to buy. Normal service — the useful, practical stuff — starts Thursday.
